Hawaii Vacation HomesAffordable to Luxury Home Rentals on Maui, Kauai, Big Island, Oahu, Molokai and Lanai Comments Off May 27th, 2011 Flying Ant Infestations in Atherton, Leigh and Tyldesley.Ants in the house are the scourge of countless residences in summer leaving a lot of us to dread the summertime together with the yearly flying ant invasion. Only the unfortunates that have been through it will be aware of the true horror of flying ants within their residences. Getting an infestation of ordinary wingless ants is unattractive enough however, when they go through their annual mating phase the problem can become horrifying. Ants regularly form colonies beneath the floors as well as in the wall cavities of our houses and these colonies will survive for quite some time if not treated becoming progressively more troublesome each year. Our dwellings are warm and dry and supply the ideal places for a thriving ant colony; even solid hard floor is simply not a barrier to and ant colony. Ants and flying ants need a sandy soil and there are many areas in Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester which are inclined to provide more ant problems than most, Southport, Blackpool, Bolton, Sale & Altrincham come to mind as hot ant spots. Unfortunately during their mating time that they can be most troublesome. Throughout Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester this usually is pretty regularly around the third or fourth week in July. Normally this process starts after a couple of days of hot, dry weather and will often last for about a week although smaller releases will extend throughout most of the summer. This is often extremely distressing for many people leading to extreme emotional distress to the level that individuals learn to dread the summer months and have actually left their homes to escape the plague of ants which they know will come each summer. The poor summers of 2008, 2009 & 2010 has meant that ant call-outs were down on the preceding but ants appear to have a way of making up ground and 2011 looks set to be a particularly troublesome year. Most people who have this problem attempt for DIY solutions with powders from hardware shops etc but mostly these efforts are doomed to failure as they are not getting to the heart of the problem which is the colony itself, hidden away safely in the cavity wall or sub-floor area. At Harrier Pest Control (governed by site survey) we are able to remedy this problem and issue an extendable three year guarantee. The process which is carried out mainly from the outside of the house, is perfectly safe for pets or animals and kids and leaves no smell, involves drilling small holes in the cavity walls of the property, not unlike a damp-course injection and blowing an insecticidal powder directly into the cavity wall under pressure. This forms an impenetrable barrier across that the ants cannot cross and and also a precautionary internal spray treatment (if considered necessary) will steadily bring the infestation under control. The holes, that are only 8mm across remain open so it is a simply matter of topping up the cavity walls every 36 months to extend the effectiveness of the guarantee in three year terms. This treatment is best done out in early spring nevertheless it can be performed anytime of the year. As a a very special deal before our busy period begins we are offering 25% off the usual cost until May 30 2010. Whilst we usually cover the whole of Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, we could travel further afield but this will be reflected in the cost.
