I recently vacationed there, and found that I am Hawaiian at heart. My wife is part Hawaiian. Where should we begin with housing, jobs, etc.? I know the cost of living is much higher than what I have now… is the pay that much higher for teachers and other professionals? 8 Responses to “I’d like to move to Hawaii, preferably Oahu. You need to know that you are not welcome. Move to Greenland instead.

A 500 sq ft condo will run you about $500k. Good luck.

Find a job before you get there and take plenty money, cause you are right C.O.L. is very high there. Oh yea, and the locals **** the non-locals that live there. I mean hate, not joking here.

I’m not sure I never was there, but if you want to move there then make sure you have a lot of money. Living in Hawaii isn’t cheap.

Here is a web site you can check out some homes for sale in Oahu. There is a link with the starting salary for teachers, depending on experience and degrees. My thought would be you might want to live closer to one of the military bases such as Schofield Barracks, at least they would be more friendly. My daughter is living in Mililani, five miles from Schofield Barracks. She is in the Army. Very expensive. Rent for a 2 bedroom apartment is over $1,500. Also, if you don’t know Japanese, learn it. It is very useful.
